a time it was | BILL EPPRIDGE

The other day my wife and I had a beautiful dinner with Bill Eppridge and his wife Adrienne at my friend's Serbian restaurant KAFANA in the East Village (amazing food, if you live in nyc and haven't tried it yet, close this page and don't come back till you've checked it out).
Bill is an amazing guy and legendary photographer, he has great stories to tell, I could spend days just listening to his stories from back in the days when things were different (much better if you ask me) than today, when the 'photo industry' had integrity and some guts.

He gave me his book, A TIME IT WAS | BOBBY KENNEDY IN THE SIXTIES|, and I LOVE IT.

You could see that back then, presidential candidates had some substance, it wasn't just about the entertainment, about creating a spectacle. Looking at the pictures and listening to Bill's stories, you realize that Bobby Kennedy was a REAL, normal guy. For example he only had ONE bodyguard, not 20 layers of secret service people .... the title of the essay, THE LAST CAMPAIGN, says a lot. The Kennedys, JFK and RFK, were probably the last president/candidate who were themselves, not just puppets. And we saw how that ended.

This book is an amazing piece of history and is loaded with great images. Buy it from your local bookstore if it's still in business, and if that's not the case you can get it HERE
